The Instrument Library activates a core component of our mission: to place faithfully restored and fully functional vintage instruments into the hands of contemporary musicians for the purposes of experimentation and creation.
Over the past few years, Forgotten Futures has loaned meticulously restored Ondiolines to numerous artists, notably the electronic musician Hainbach and the French composer Yann Tiersen.
More Ondiolines are now available for artists to experiment and record with via partner organizations in Brooklyn, NY and Los Angeles, California as well as in Provence, France. Thank you to our genius restoration technicians Stephen Masucci, Daniel Kitzig, Mike Buffington, and Mike Walters for making this work possible.
Forgotten Futures is proud to have restored virtuoso Ondiolinist Jean-Jacques Perrey's personal instrument, and it is available for special projects in Western Europe.
Beyond Ondiolines, our Brooklyn collection includes rare and unique vintage drum machines, a Fairlight CMI IIx, and many esoteric sound making devices besides. These instruments can be loaned in collaboration with Figure 8 studios.
And while they are not part of our collection, Forgotten Futures restored two Ondiolines on behalf of Kerwax Studios which are now available to record with among their incredible collection of vintage instruments, microphones, and studio/recording equipment.
If you are an artist or producer and have a project in mind, please be in touch. Our program and collection is ever changing and flexible, built to meet the desires of the artist with no preconceived notions of outcome. Loans are made on a case by case basis.
