Forgotten Futures is a non-profit organization based in Brooklyn, NY.
Our mission is to revive lost and forgotten yet vital artifacts of electronic musical instrument history by collecting, faithfully restoring and preserving original instruments; researching and presenting the stories of their inventors; and bringing to light the cultural impact both from the time in which they were made, and more importantly, how they can make an impression on our current and future cultural moments.
The programs of Forgotten Futures include:
Research, acquisition, and restoration of lost and forgotten early electronic musical instruments;
Outreach and education programs related to these instruments via symposiums, websites, worldwide instrument placement, and technical and restoration mentoring;
Performance and installation projects;
Operating as a record label and publishing imprint.
Forgotten Futures was founded by the multi-instrumentalist and budding ondiolinist Wally De Backer, also known as Gotye.
